In a historic event, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has flagged off multiple Solar Street Light Projects in Ukwa West, Abia State.

This initiative is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renew Hope Agenda and fulfills the promises made by the current NDDC Governing Board, led by Chairman Barr. Chiedu Ebie and MD/CEO Dr. Samuel Ogbuku.

The launch events, which took place at various locations including Obokwe Council Hall, Umuekechi Council Hall, Omumuauzor Council Hall, and Ahia Nkwo Market in Umuiku-Isi Asa, drew large crowds of dignitaries and community members.

During the events, Abia State Director Prince Azubuike Nwubani emphasized that the project is exclusively for solar street lighting, not for individual houses or compounds

Prince Nwubani encouraged the communities to support the current NDDC Board, assuring them that more projects are in the pipeline.

Chief Dr. Eruba Dimgba, Abia Representative on the NDDC Board, expressed gratitude to the MD/CEO and Chairman for prioritizing Abia State in their programs.

He assured the communities that he would diligently represent their interests, being an Asa Son and Abian himself.

Chief Dimgba also urged the communities to cooperate with the contractors and protect the projects from vandalism, promising that more benefits would follow if the existing projects are secured.
