
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has flagged off the construction of the dilapidated Umudobia-Umuaka Road in Ukwa West, Abia State.

The ceremony, which took place on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at the Umuaka Autonomous Community, was well-attended by stakeholders from Umuaka and Umodobia.

According to Mr. Azubuike Nwubani, Director at the Abia State Office of NDDC, the commission is committed to benefiting the people of the Niger Delta region. He assured the people of Abia State that they have a capable representative on the NDDC Board.

Chief Dr. Eruba Dimgba, Abia State Representative on the NDDC Governing Board, praised the leadership of Barr. Chiedu Ebie and Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Chairman and MD/CEO of NDDC, respectively, for approving the project. He noted that the NDDC is committed to supporting Abia State, with more projects in the pipeline.

Chief Dimgba urged the stakeholders to work harmoniously with the contractor to ensure the project’s timely completion. The Managing Director of World Wide Environmental Technology Ltd, Mr. Acho, assured that the project would be delivered within four months, provided an enabling environment is maintained.

The construction of the Umudobia-Umuaka Road is a significant step towards improving the infrastructure and economic development of Abia State.

With the NDDC’s commitment to supporting the region, the people of Abia State can look forward to more projects and initiatives in the near future.
